Game Notes: James McDonald made his sixth rehab start tonight, his fourth with Indianapolis and he picked up his third loss since joining the Indians. He made it through six innings, but still had trouble with his control, leading to four runs on six hits, three walks and a hit batter. McDonald threw 96 pitches on the night, exactly half of them went for strikes. Jose Tabata began his rehab assignment, going 1-for-3 before being replaced by Felix Pie, who went 2-for-2, with his fourth homer. Darren Ford had three hits and stole two bases, giving him 16 on the season. The double by Matt Hague was his 22nd of the season and he drove in his 44th run.

Game Notes: Nick Kingham made his second start for Altoona and didn’t have much success. After throwing 5.2 shutout innings in his AA debut, Kingham took the loss, allowing five runs in 6.1 IP. Nate Baker continued his season long struggles, getting just one out, while allowing four runs to score, including two runners he inherited from Kingham. Altoona had nine hits on the night, all singles. Gregory Polanco went hitless, but he drew a walk and has now reached base in all seven games since joining Altoona. Gift Ngoepe had his second straight two hit game and it’s his fourth multi-hit game in his last six games. Adalberto Santos is hitting .340 in June.

Game Notes: Joely Rodriguez made his Bradenton debut today, going five innings and getting the no decision in the Marauders 4-3 win. Joan Montero pitched the last two innings of the seven inning contest. He didn’t allow a run or hit and picked up his second victory of the season. The Marauders were facing off against David Price, the 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner. Stetson Allie made his Bradenton debut as well and drove in a run with an RBI double. Alen Hanson had three hits, stole his 20th base and scored two runs, while Dan Gamache added his 20th double of the season.

Game Notes: After winning game one of the doubleheader by a 4-3 score, Charlotte shutdown the Marauder bats in game two. Bradenton had just two singles by Willy Garcia and Stetson Allie and Garcia and Jose Osuna each drew walks, accounting for their only four runners of the game. Allie had hits in each of his first two games, but also struck out four times in six AB’s. Robby Rowland took his fifth loss of the year, allowing all four Charlotte runs. Zack Von Rosenberg took over for him and threw two scoreless innings to finish the game out.

Game Notes: Barrett Barnes had a big game tonight, helping West Virginia to an 11-6 win. He hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and a three-run homer in the fifth, on his way to a six RBI day. The home runs were his first of the season. Starter John Kuchno lasted just three innings, but reliever Bryton Trepagnier came in to save the day for the Power, throwing three no-hit innings while the offense did it’s work. Dilson Herrera hit his seventh homer of the year and drove in his 32nd run. Josh Bell returned to the lineup after missing three games and the All-Star game. He had two hits, including his 21st double of the year. Jordan Steranka had the first two hits of his career and drove in his first run as well.

Game Notes: Check out the 2013 Jamestown Jammers preview for information on all of the players on the roster. Jamestown won for the fourth time in five games behind the pitching of 2013 9th round pick Chad Kuhl, who made his pro debut tonight. He threw three scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk, while striking out three batters. The player drafted in the round after him, Shane Carle, did not have a good debut. He lasted just one inning, giving up three runs(two earned) on three hits. Lance Breedlove picked up the win, throwing three scoreless innings, accumulating seven strikeouts. Jamestown had 14 hits on the night, seven went for extra bases. Jin-De Jhang and Danny Collins each hit their third home run of the season. Harold Ramirez went 0-for-5 on the game and third baseman Beau Wallace has opened his career with an 0-for-11 streak.

Game Notes: Check out the GCL Pirates season preview here. Wei-Chung Wang made his professional debut nearly two full years after signing with the Pirates. He missed all of last season due to Tommy John Surgery. Wang allowed four runs on two homers, but struck out eight batters without allowing a walk. Oderman Rocha gave up two runs over two innings and Mervin Del Rosario retired all five batters he faced, three by strikeout. Three of the Pirates 2013 draft picks made their pro debuts today, Justin Maffei batting leadoff, Adam Landecker and Trae Arbet, a HS shortstop that signed for a $425,000 bonus, well over his slot value. Chris Diaz played his first game of the season. The 11th round pick from last year’s draft, is on a rehab assignment and he will eventually join the West Virginia roster. Pirates batters struck out 14 times this game, including the first six batters of the game.
