Travis Sawchik of the Trib has an update on Kyle McPherson:

This is the second time that we’ve heard of a Pirates prospect receiving a PRP injection in the last year. Josh Bell had the procedure to speed up the healing in his knee last year. For now it looks like McPherson will avoid surgery, although his injury history is a concern. McPherson missed a lot of time last year with a shoulder injury, only to return by mid-season without surgery. He only made one start over the off-season in winter ball, then was removed with another shoulder injury. Now he’s got an elbow injury. So far he hasn’t had surgery on any of his issues, which is a good thing. The bad thing is that he keeps getting these injuries which have been taking him out of the game, and which have cost him almost a full season of development time.
