Victor Black Added to the Eastern League All-Star Game

Published:

The Altoona Curve were already sending three players to the Eastern League All-Star game. Today the team announced via press release that reliever Victor Black has been added to the game, giving Altoona four representatives.

Black is currently dominating in relief for Altoona. The right-hander has a 1.36 ERA on the year, with a 42:15 K/BB ratio in 33 innings. He has yet to give up a run in the month of June, over ten innings. The last time he gave up a run was on May 26th. Since then he’s pitched 12 shutout innings in ten appearances. He’s only given up a run in five of his 27 appearances this year.

Black has been spending time as the Altoona closer. He’s been showing good velocity, throwing 94-96 MPH on a consistent basis. He does struggle with his control, which is shown with the 15 walks. However, his stuff is dominant enough to get the job done, even with the control issues. That has been shown with his high strikeout rate.
