A few minor league moves this afternoon.
**The Pirates officially promoted right-handed pitcher Gerrit Cole to Altoona today, in time for his debut tonight. They also activated Matt Curry off the disabled list. Curry has been out with a hamstring injury.
**To make room on the Altoona roster, Elevys Gonzalez was transferred to the Bradenton Marauders, and right-handed pitcher Kris Harvey was placed on the Altoona disabled list with a right calf strain.
**D.J. Crumlich and Chris Diaz were officially added to the State College roster today, after their signings became official yesterday. Francisco Aponte has been transferred to West Virginia.
Tim started Pirates Prospects in 2009 from his home in Virginia, which was 40 minutes from where Pedro Alvarez made his pro debut in Lynchburg. That year, the Lynchburg Hillcats won the Carolina League championship, and Pirates Prospects was born from Tim's reporting along the way.
