Minor League Schedule: 5/18/12

Rudy Owens looks to continue his strong season tonight in Lehigh Valley. After allowing four runs over five innings in his first start of the year, he has pitched at least six innings in each of his last six starts, with two or less runs allowed in every outing. Rudy Owens will make his eighth start of the season tonight. He has pitched 48 innings this year, giving up 38 hits, four walks and has recorded 32 strikeouts. He ranks first on the team in innings pitched and among starters, his 0.88 WHIP in the best on the team and second best in the International League. In his last start on 5/13, Rudy went 8 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks. It was the first time he issued more than one walk in a game this season. He faced Lehigh Valley on 5/8, allowing two runs on eight hits in six innings and picking up the win.

Double-A: Altoona (15-22) VS Erie (20-18) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Brandon Cumpton (4-3 4.14)

Brandon Cumpton will make his eighth start of the season tonight. He allowed a season high six runs during his last outing, which came against Erie. This start today will be his fourth start against Erie this season. He has allowed 14 runs in 15 innings against them so far. On the year, Brandon has pitched 41 innings, allowing 39 hits, nine walks and he has struck out twenty-five. He has an outstanding ground ball to fly ball ratio of 2.29 this year. Right-handed batters are hitting .219 against him.

High-A: Bradenton (18-22) VS Dunedin (26-14) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Casey Sadler (0-1 2.88)

Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton 1 Dunedin 2

Casey Sadler gets his first start of the season after ten relief appearances. Bradenton has lost four straight games and currently sits 14 games back in the standings behind first place St Lucie. The Marauders have a 10-10 record at home, as they play game two of an eight game homestand tonight.

Low-A: West Virginia (13-27) @ Greenville (19-20) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Zack Dodson (1-3 4.98)

Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia 3 Greenville 8

Zack Dodson will make his eighth start of the season tonight. He is coming off a strong start on 5/13, when he went six innings, allowing just one run on one hit and one walk. His 34.1 innings and 27 strikeouts both rank second on the team. Zack has made four road starts this year, going 0-3 6.16 in 19 innings. He faced Greenville on 4/14, going 4.1 innings while allowing two runs on five hits.
