Two trade rumors, probably not related to each other, but neither one big enough for their own post:
–Paul Hoynes of The Plain Dealer reported that the Pirates were trying to trade Andy Marte to a team who would use him in the majors.
-Dejan Kovacevic reports that the Pirates are looking hard at an external move, and notes that they are looking for pitching. Â Granted, this doesn’t necessarily mean an external move could come via trade. Â Just for reference, a few pitchers who have been designated for assignment recently: Ryan Rowland-Smith and Manny Acosta. Â Guys who have been recently released: Jeff Suppan, Carlos Silva, Doug Mathis, Ron Mahay, and Scott Proctor.

Acosta would be a nice pickup if something could be worked out. Low salary, proven ability.
Have no insider info, but Lucas May would be a good catcher to acquire if possible. Royals DFA’d him. Good bat, still young, has power., able to throw out would be base stealers.
Guess around noon or so, the questions will be answered.
