AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE
Perth Heat 4, Sydney Blue Sox 3 — Jarryd Sullivan pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for the Blue Sox, including a strikeout, in their loss to the Heat. Perth scored a run in the 2nd inning, then added 3 more in the top of the 7th. The Blue Sox rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th, with a double, three singles, and a sacrifice fly, but it wasn’t enough to catch up.
Adelaide Bite 9, Melbourne Aces 2 — The Aces had the early lead with a 2-run homer in the 2nd, but the Bite started chomping in the second half of the game. They scored 4 runs in the 5th, 2 more in each of the 6th and 7th, and added a final run in the top of the 9th. Quincy Latimore had a second night off, though. The Bite are in first place in the Australian League, with the Sydney Blue Sox and the Perth Heat right on their heels — half a game and one game behind, respectively. Each of those three teams has 17 wins, but the Bite have fewer losses. There are two more series after this weekend –the Bite and the Blue Sox meet up next week, and then the Bite finish the season with a series against Brisbane.
