Who Would You Protect From the Rule 5 Draft?

Published:

Crotta is one of the fringe prospects who could be protected from the Rule 5 draft.

The deadline to add players to the 40-man roster, in order to protect them from the Rule 5 draft, is tonight at midnight.  Earlier today we reviewed some of the players who should be protected, along with some of the players who could be removed from the 40-man roster to create room for those new additions.  Now it’s time for your input.

Jeff Locke, Daniel Moskos, and Nathan Adcock are all favorites to be added to the 40-man roster.  Beyond those three, the Pirates have a group of fringe prospects with no strong consensus as to who should be added.  If you could protect one of the top prospects from that group, which player would you protect?

The Pirates also have two open spots on the 40-man roster.  If they add Locke, Moskos, and Adcock, plus one of the above players, they will need two more spots.  Which two players would you remove from the 40-man roster to create space for the new additions?
