Pirates Winter League Recap: 11/7-11/13

The Mesa Solar Sox went 1-4 this week, and currently sit 13-14.  Here is how the Pirates prospects fared this week:

-Andrew Lambo played in four games this week, going 4-for-14 (.286) with a homer (4).  Lambo is now hitting for a .304/.354/.511 line on the season.

-Tony Sanchez played in four games, going 4-for-15 (.267), with two homers.  Sanchez is now hitting for a .230/.319/.443 line on the season.

-Josh Harrison played in four games, going 3-for-16 (.188), with a double, three walks, and three steals.  Harrison is now hitting for a .321/.376/.519 line this season.

-Jordy Mercer played in four games, going 4-for-15 (.267) with three walks.  Mercer is hitting for a .261/.329/.319 line this season.

-Justin Wilson started on Tuesday, and had some control issues.  Wilson pitched three innings, allowing two runs on two hits, with four walks and three strikeouts.  He threw 65 pitches, with only 35 strikes.  Wilson has a 4.15 ERA in 13 innings this season, with a 13:7 K/BB ratio.

-Brian Leach made two appearances, combining for two shutout innings, with one hit, two walks, and two strikeouts.  Leach has pitched nine innings this season with five runs, no earned runs, and a 6:7 K/BB ratio.

-Aaron Pribanic made two appearances.  On Tuesday, Pribanic pitched three more shutout innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and striking out one.  He threw 42 pitches, with 29 strikes.  On Saturday, Pribanic pitched 0.2 innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on four hits, with a walk and no strikeouts.  He threw 25 pitches, with 15 for strikes.  His fastball ranged from 90-93 MPH, averaging 91.1 MPH.  His changeup ranged from 79-83 MPH, while his slider ranged from 82-84 MPH.  Pribanic has a 2.25 ERA in 16 innings this season, with a 9:6 K/BB ratio.

Mesa plays Phoenix on Monday at 12:35 PM MST/2:35 PM EST.

-Starling Marte: 3-for-16, 1 2B, 1 HR

-Michael Dubee: 4.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

-Charlie Morton: 6 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

Misc. Pirates Winter Leagues

-Benji Gonzalez: 3-for-10, 1 2B, 2 BB

-The Australian Baseball League started this week.  Quincy Latimore was the only Pirates prospect to get in to action.  Latimore had a big week, going 6-for-14 with three homers and two stolen bases.
