-Jordy Mercer (.255) started at shortstop, batting third.  Mercer went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly RBI, and a fielding error.

-Andrew Lambo (.301) started in right field, batting fourth.  Lambo went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

-Justin Wilson (L, 0-1, 3.60) pitched three innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits, with two walks and two strikeouts.  Wilson threw 51 pitches, with 31 for strikes, and also threw a wild pitch.  His fastball ranged from 88-93 MPH, averaging 90.4 MPH.  His slider ranged from 82-96 MPH, averaging 84.1 MPH.  He threw five curveballs, with two at 74 and three at 76 MPH.  His changeup ranged from 83-85 MPH.  Wilson only threw 27 fastballs, which is surprising, as the Pirates pitchers have been working heavily with their fastballs in the AFL so far.

-Brian Leach (0.00) pitched a shutout inning, allowing no hits, although he walked four batters and struck out one.  Leach threw 27 pitches, with only eight going for strikes.  His fastball ranged from 93-95 MPH, averaging 93.9 MPH.  He threw four sliders, ranging from 85-88 MPH.  He also threw two changeups, both hitting 85 MPH.

Mesa plays Peo Javelinas tomorrow at 12:35 PM MST/3:35 PM EST.
