UPDATE 6:18 PM: Some photos from the press box…
My view from the press box…
The Baysox Foul Ball Wall, which is right behind my head. This image is behind me to the right.
Here is a closeup of a ball from June of this year. It’s about two feet away from me, and the same level as my forehead.
I think I’ll be paying close attention to the game tonight. Nothing directly behind me. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing. Might mean that this section is due.
UPDATE 6:36 PM: Some information on the Baltimore prospects in tonight’s game, from the Baseball America 2010 Prospect Handbook:
-Xavier Avery was the #13 prospect and the top CF prospect in the Baltimore system, as well as the top outfielder. Avery received Kenny Lofton comparisons last season.
-Caleb Joseph is the #10 prospect in the farm system, and the top catching prospect. He has average tools across the board, and is blocked at the major league level by Matt Wieters.
-Brandon Waring is the #18 prospect in the farm system, and the number two 1B prospect behind Brandon Snyder.
-Ryan Adams is the 26th best prospect in the farm system.
-Pitcher Eddie Gamboa is the 29th ranked prospect, and listed as a relief prospect. He apparently works with an 89-91 MPH fastball, and works mostly with his fastball, which has a lot of life.
UPDATE 6:41 PM: Some minor league moves from earlier in the day:
-Kyle McPherson was promoted from West Virginia to Bradenton
-Diego Moreno was placed on the Bradenton disabled list
-Rinku Singh was promoted from the GCL to State College
-Casey Sadler was demoted from State College to the GCL
My guess is that Sadler is a paper move to get State College under the roster requirements. The GCL season is over (check out the season recap that just went up), so I wouldn’t be surprised if Sadler returns in a few days, with someone else being “demoted” to make room.
UPDATE 7:07 PM: First pitch thrown. Switching to Twitter for the updates.
