According to Baseball America’s latest minor league transactions, the Pittsburgh Pirates have signed right-handed pitcher Jeff Gibbs. Gibbs was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 18th.
Gibbs was a ninth round pick in the 2012 draft. He sits in the low-90s and can reach the mid-90s, with an average slider and change. Last year he pitched in short-season ball, but didn’t have the best results. The Pirates will probably use him as an organizational guy with their short-season teams. You can read more about Gibbs on his player page.
