Pirates Prospect Watch: Thomas Harrington Gets on Track For Indianapolis

Thomas Harrington allowed two runs in six innings for Indianapolis on Thursday night. Harrington allowed just four hits, no walks, and struck out five in his latest start.

In six outings at the Triple-A level, Harrington has a 3.67 ERA in 34.1 innings. He’s got a 29:4 K/BB, and a .203 average against.

On Thursday, Harrington sat 92.6 MPH with his fastball, touching 94.3. The four-seam had eight whiffs in 21 swings, with three called strikes for a 32% CSW on 34 pitches. His changeup was the next most used pitch, thrown 19 times with three whiffs and two called strikes.

Harrington threw his sweeper and cutter for strikes. The sweeper landed for three called strikes on 14 pitches, while the cutter had one whiff and four called strikes on ten pitches. He also threw one curveball.

This was a good bounce-back for Harrington, who allowed four runs in five innings his last time out.

TRIPLE-A: INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS

INDIANAPOLIS lost 3-2, despite the start from Thomas Harrington.

Liover Peguero had two hits, including his 27th double of the season. He also stole his 14th base. Peguero is batting .308/.357/.462 in the early part of September, after hitting .281/.366/.494 in August. Ji Hwan Bae hit his eighth double of the season. Nick Yorke stole his 11th base in Triple-A.

Brenden Dixon hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth inning, giving Altoona the go-ahead run. It was his eighth homer of the year. Justin Meis threw three shutout innings in relief, striking out four batters. Eli Wilson led off the third inning with a double, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Termarr Johnson, leading to a two-run inning.

HIGH-A: GREENSBORO GRASSHOPPERS

GREENSBORO won 5-4

Wilber Dotel pitched three scoreless innings in his latest start. Dotel had been struggling over the last month, prior to allowing one run in 4.2 innings his last time out. P.J. Hilson hit his 13th homer of the year, giving Greensboro two runs in the eighth inning. He has three homers since August 27th. Mitch Jebb hit his 12th double and stole his 42nd base of the season. Lonnie White Jr. stole his 12th base, and Hudson Head stole his eighth.

BRADENTON was postponed due to rain.
