Greensboro has an 11:05 AM start time.

Bradenton will have first pitch at noon, with Owen Kellington set to make the start.

Indianapolis has a 1:35 PM start time, with Osvaldo Bido set to make the start.

Here’s a look at the news for the day. If anything else pops up before/during the game, we will add it to the list.

**The Pirates lost the opener of the series, with Luis Ortiz getting roughed up and the offense remaining quiet. At least the bullpen did well…

**It was a good day for homers in the minors, plus there was some noteworthy pitching from prospects.

**Today’s Pirates Prospects Daily takes a closer look at Quinn Priester, who was one of those noteworthy pitchers.

**For the history fans, today’s This Date in Pittsburgh Pirates History has 11 updated bios for players born on May 17th. Also two trades of note.

**Today’s Card of the Day article is a tribute for Pirates pitcher Dennis Ribant, who passed away recently.

UMPIRE SCORECARD

Solid game from the ump last night, maybe 1-2 more misses than you hope, but no crazy misses. The most impactful one didn’t really have any impact on the game

John Dreker
John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
