There was some big news earlier today, which I’m sure everyone has read by now. Bryan Reynolds signed a long-term deal. I gave my thoughts on the deal and what it means for the Pirates.

INDIANAPOLIS VS COLUMBUS
Game Time: 6:35 PM EST
Projected Starter: Chase De Jong (NR)Cody Bolton is pitching great in relief, with a 2.38 ERA and a 14:2 K/BB ratio in 11.2 innings. Daniel Zamora gives the Pirates some lefty depth in Triple-A, currently with a 3.68 ERA and a 12:2 K/BB ratio in 7.1 innings. Hunter Stratton has a 2.61 ERA in 10.1 innings with 19 strikeouts, although his eight walks are cause for concern.
ALTOONA AT READING
Game Time: 11:00 AM EST
Projected Starter: Kyle Nicolas, RHP (1-1, 5.79)Altoona played an early game, and lost 11-5 to Reading. I’ll save the recap for the nightly Prospect Watch, but I do want to note the performance of Kyle Nicolas. The right-hander gave up seven runs, all unearned, on nine hits. Most of the damage came in the fourth inning. What I find encouraging is that Nicolas didn’t walk a batter today. While you don’t want to see so many runs or hits in 4.2 innings, the fact that Nicolas had good control for a second straight start is a positive.
GREENSBORO VS ROME
Game Time: 6:00 PM EST
Projected Starter: Anthony Solometo (0-0, 5.25)Jase Bowen has been on fire in Greensboro so far, hitting .353/.411/.706 with five homers in 51 at-bats. This isn’t just a product of the home park. He’s got a .994 OPS and two of those homers on the road. This is a great beginning to the season for the young outfielder. Abrahan Gutierrez returned.
BRADENTON AT DUNEDIN
Game Time: 6:30 PM EST
Projected Starter: Dominic Perachi (0-0, 7.11)Enmanuel Terrero has been hitting well in Bradenton, with a .353/.460/.549 line in 51 at-bats. We’ve got an article on the left fielder coming up this week. As I noted in my column notes today, I’m very glad to see Javier Rivas on a nice run of hitting over the last week, after struggling with strikeouts at the beginning of the year. Rodolfo Nolasco returned.
