He pitched well during Spring Training, but he not performed up to those standards in either of his 2022 outings. Eliecer Romero recorded the final out of the sixth, stranding an inherited runner. He then threw shutout ball in the seventh to close out the 4-3 win. Roinny Aguiar, who signed for $315,000 in January, made his pro debut and went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. He was signed as a shortstop, but he was the DH today. Yordany De Los Santos had the big hit of the game, driving in two runs with his second double of the season. John Zorrilla hit his first home run. Gustavo Armas capped the scoring with a ground ball/error that brought in a runner from third base.

Yes, very positive reviews.

“Whether in the field or at the plate, Bishop has a healthy dose of conviction in his talents.”

And Solo > QP based on that report?

agent00

it’s interesting. i thought his report of bishop was more glowing overall…..yet only said if things come together for him, he’s an ‘intriguing player’. while with solometo, he played a future 60 grade on him.

AdministrativeSky236

Drop a summary for those of us behind the pay wall?

agent00

since you asked so nicely!

bishop – plays with a certain swagger. he believes deeply in his talents. small sample size, but it’s the best bat speed he’s seen from a teenager. plus raw pop. does well against fastballs. needs to work on his offspeed recognition. plays a very good center field. displays double plus speed and above average instincts. brought up similar prospects in johan rojas and miguel bleis (who the pirates saw today), and said bishop is similar except has louder tools.

solometo – very good movement on his sinker. generated a lot of poor contact with it. can become one of the best sinkers in the minors with more velocity. change-up is a decent pitch with similar movement to his sinker, but with a lack of good separation of velocity between that and the sinker. rarely used his slider, and it lacked good movement, but he located it well. but he says if he stays healthy, gains velo and improved changeup..he could be a future 60 value prospect.

kja1970

Tool grades for Bishop

70 Speed
55 Arm
~60 in CF
55 Power
<=45 Hit

Is that about right?

AdministrativeSky236

I mean if we can get that to 50 hit then we got a very very nice player

agent00

perhaps a bit high on the power grade…but yeah that looks solid!

AdministrativeSky236

Damn now thats something to dream on, thanks so much!

agent00

no problem. i was pleasantly surprised by the report on bishop. he’s something of an unknown since we’ve barely heard much of him and haven’t seen him play.

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

I think the summary is “a positive review” lol

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

One of the few (I think?) publications I don’t subscribe to lol

AdministrativeSky236

Neither BP or BA for me, so im all out of the loop lol

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

I caved for BA the day I finally paid off my school loans lol

john_fluharty

One marker that you’re getting old is when you pay off your student loans.

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

Followed by the subsequent lifestyle creep, cause you look back, “Wait. I don’t have that huge monthly bill anymore. Where’s all my money going?”

AdministrativeSky236

Ah well my number is still increasing so i got quite a bit yet before im ready for BA, it will be a welcome addition lol

NMR

I dropped BP a few years back and picked up BA in its place.

agent00

chandler and bishop…name a better combo

AdministrativeSky236

Solo and white, kellington and davis… just the whole 2021 draft class

agent00

highly optimistic, but that draft class could be very transformative for the franchise’s future

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

Sabol and Sabol. Yes, Sabol twice.

agent00

hmmm fair

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

I like it. Then he isn’t stressing his arm playing SS on non-pitching days.

AdministrativeSky236

I like this a whole lot more than him trying to play SS while pitching as well

AdministrativeSky236

Bubba now with an rbi single then swipes second

AdministrativeSky236

Shalin polanco went bombs away!

Wilbur Miller

Sure seems like the hitters in the FCL and DSL are doing a lot better than last year. SSS of course.

agent00

POLANCO SMASH!!

Wilbur Miller

Silvera might be interesting. Second year and still only 17.

AdministrativeSky236

Had pretty strong numbers last year too. Assuming the stuff matches the results, he could be stateside at 18

mpejkrm

Tough day for Erc but clearly they like him if he’s getting this many innings already. Keep in mind he just turned 18 and he’s from Europe – it’s gonna be a long, long, long road

AdministrativeSky236

Now yordany comes through with a big hit!

AdministrativeSky236

Too soon to promote bubba to the MLB after one AB?

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

Him and Bishop. Now.

agent00

nope. get him up there 😎

AdministrativeSky236

I wonder if they let him be a two way player similar to ohtani with DH and pitching only? I know he agreed to sign as he wanted to play both sides, but SS and pitching just seems like a huge drain on his body

agent00

so far that seems to be the plan. i haven’t seen him play the infield yet i think?

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

BUBBA HR!!! We need to see it! I want to see what the swing looks like now

Wilbur Miller

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

Seems Omar Alfonzo got Ercolani out of a rock and a hard place.

agent00

ercolani having some trouble so far

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

Wilbur, did you make the trek for FCL today?

Bubba DH’ing

Wilbur Miller

Aargh, no. It’s a hike to Ft. Myers.

Got really aggravated last Saturday. They were supposed to play at Ed Smith in Sarasota, which isn’t far, and better for spectating than Pirate City. So I drove down there and no game. Heavy rain the night before and the drainage there seems poor.

I was gonna go home, but then I saw at MiLB.com that they were about to play and Chandler was pitching. The O’s have another facility 20 min away where they play MiL exhibitions, so I went there. Nothing.

So I figured they must have moved it to PC, which has very good drainage. Had to go back to BRD anyway, but by the time I got there the game was suspended. PC was deserted, so I don’t know for certain where they played that one inning.

Such is FCL baseball.

john_fluharty

Meanwhile you put 100 miles on your car LOL.

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

I appreciate the dedication lol

AdministrativeSky236

Him and bishop back to back would be fun to watch!

agent00

home run for chandler!
