Pirates Game Discussion: Pirates 3, Reds 1

The Pittsburgh Pirates (13-19) take on the Cincinnati Reds (9-24) on Saturday night at 6:35 PM in game three of a four-game series at PNC Park. The Pirates are sending out Zach Thompson (1-3, 7.08) for his sixth start of the season. He has a 1.77 WHIP in 20.1 innings. The Reds are countering with right-handed pitcher Luis Castillo (0-0, 5.79), who is making his second start of the season. He made his season debut five days ago and allowed three runs in 4.2 innings.

Beau Sulser was claimed on waivers.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball.
