AFL Recap: Jared Oliva Reaches Base Three Times in Peoria Shutout Victory

The Peoria Javelinas played their first afternoon game of the Arizona Fall League season on Wednesday and won 2-0 over the Glendale Desert Dogs in a quick contest. Jared Oliva and Jason Delay were in the starting lineup, while Blake Cederlind saw action out of the bullpen.

Oliva was in right field again today, as he gets action at all three outfield spots this fall. Batting second in this game, he had just one official at-bat, going 0-for-1 with three walks, a run scored and his fifth stolen base. Oliva is hitting .355, with a .996 OPS.

Delay batted ninth and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. He is now 2-for-17 in five games, with a .387 OPS. He committed his second throwing error.

Cederlind pitched a scoreless eighth inning, retiring the side in order on ten pitches, with seven going for strikes. He had a strikeout, a pop out to shortstop and a fly ball to left field. Cederlind has allowed one run on one hit in four innings, put he has walked four batters.
