AFL Recap: Peoria Picks Up the Win on Saturday Night

The Peoria Javelinas came into their road game against Glendale on Saturday night with a 4-4 record. Both Oneil Cruz and Jason Delay were in the starting lineup, and Blake Cederlind came out of the bullpen, as the Javelinas won 9-4.

Cruz came into the day with a .143 average, going 3-for-21 with three singles in his first six games of the season. He was batting eighth on Saturday night and went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts. Cruz has 14 strikeouts in 28 plate appearances this fall.

Jason Delay batted ninth and went 1-for-3 with his first double, a run scored, an RBI and a hit-by-pitch. He’s batting .143 in the AFL.

Blake Cederlind pitched the bottom of the eighth inning and needed just ten pitches to get through his night. He retired the side in order, getting a pop out to Cruz at shortstop, followed by two ground ball outs.
