| Osoria signed for a good bonus and the Pirates were high on him. He threw 86-89, with a curve and change that both could be plus pitches. He was thought to have good command, but that hasn’t been a plus yet in pro ball.
2020 2021 In the DSL, Osoria made ten starts, although he averaged only two and a half innings. Opponents didn’t get a lot of hits against him, batting only .227 and slugging .340, but he had trouble with walks. He had a reverse platoon split. 2022 Osoria was in extended spring training, but the Pirates sent him back to the DSL for the season. He made four starts, then went out for over a month before returning and appearing in relief twice. He was extremely hard to hit — opponents batted just .146 against him, but the walks were a big problem. Osoria has good potential, but his command has to improve. He’ll be Rule 5 eligible after the 2023 season. |
