WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Aguiar is an athletic player who fits in the middle infield. He isn’t a big guy, but he was gaining notice by the time the Pirates signed him as he got faster, his arm improved and he showed some potential to drive the ball. He was listed as a shortstop when he signed, but it looks like he’ll probably play second.
2022 Aguiar was the regular second baseman for one of the Pirates’ DSL affiliates. On offense, he mainly drew walks — a very great many of them — but he did show a little power. He also put his speed to use on the bases. Auiar got off to a very good start, batting 314/415/429 in 11 June games, but he slumped after that. He batted only .171 in July, half of which he missed due to injury, and .133 in August. He was only a little past 17. Not much can be read into Aguiar’s numbers yet, but he seems to have held his own at least and he’ll certainly take a walk. |
