WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Seelinger switched between starting and relief during all four of his seasons at Farmingdale State. He had a breakout season of sorts in 2017 with a 1.39 ERA in 51.2 innings, with 16 walks and 69 strikeouts. He had an even higher strikeout percentage as a sophomore, although he did that with a high walk total and poor overall results. Seelinger has a 90-92 mph fastball and command of a power curve in the low-80s that gets good results. He also mixes in a changeup. As a senior, he signed quickly and could serve in a swing role for the Pirates as well.
2017 Seelinger pitched in relief for Morgantown and put up excellent numbers. Opponents batted only 168/232/238 against him. He allowed only six earned runs and half of them came in one outing. Seelinger was in extended spring training at the start of 2018. |
