WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Faringthon got a six-figure bonus based on a fastball that was up to 91 mph shortly after he signed, along with a curve that had swing-and-miss potential. His command was a work in progress.
2021 Due to the pandemic, Faringthon, like many prospects, had to wait nearly two years until after he signed for his debut. He pitched in relief in his first season and struggled with the strike zone. He did improve substantially after a rough first month. Opponents had a .942 OPS against him in July, .644 and .622 in August and September, respectively. 2022 Pitching in relief again in the DSL, Faringthon cut his walk rate almost in half and had a much stronger season. Opponents batted only 169/264/182 against him. Right-handed hitters batted .137 with no extra-base hits. He apparently got injured on August 1, as he faced only two batters in that game and didn’t return for the rest of the season. Faringthon is still only 19. Assuming he’s healthy, he should be in the FCL, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him reach Bradenton at some point. |
