Struggled badly while pitching at age 17 in the DSL, getting hit hard and recording a lot more walks than Ks.

2010
DSL:  2-4-1, 4.43 ERA, 1.55 ERA, 42.2 IP, 4.2 BB/9, 7.4 K/9

Made a lot of progress across the board, although his numbers weren’t exactly good.

2011
DSL:  0-1-0, 9.72 ERA, 2.28 WHIP, 8.1 IP, 5.4 BB/9, 6.5 K/9
R:  3-2-1, 6.16 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, 30.2 IP, 3.5 BB/9, 5.6 K/9

Like several other pitchers, opened in DSL before moving up to GCL.  He struggled in three DSL starts, then didn’t do much better in the GCL.

2012
Did not play

Hernandez didn’t play for unknown reasons, presumably an injury.

2013
R:  2-0-0, 5.14 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 21.0 IP, 6.0 BB/9, 5.1 K/9

It may have been the aftermath of the injury, but Hernandez struggled in the GCL, walking more than he struck out.

Hernandez was developing very slowly before he missed the 2012 season and didn’t make progress in 2013.  He could return to the GCL in 2014.
