WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
The Pirates signed Castillo as a shortstop and he has the athleticism to stay there. He grew some before signing and still probably needs to get stronger.
2020 2021 Castillo did a good job of getting on base, but didn’t hit for any power. He showed good speed on the bases. He played second, third and short, appearing the most at second. Javier Rivas got the most time at short. Castillo’s error totals were low for that level. 2022 Castillo had a strong season, with excellent plate discipline. The big drawback, obviously, was the lack of power. He played second, third and short, most commonly second, and was very steady defensively. He made only six errors total, which again is low for the level. Castillo took a big step forward in 2022. It’d help going forward if he hit for more power. |
