WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Urbina was an infielder when the Pirates signed him, but they sort-of moved him behind the plate. He’s an athletic guy who doesn’t seem to have the size for catcher.
2019 In his debut, Urbina played mostly at third, catching just once. He hit well, with gap power and good plate discipline. 2020 2021 Back in the DSL, Urbina again played mostly at third. He did start six games behind the plate, and a few at first and second. At the plate, he made good contact but showed no power. 2022 The Pirates sent Urbina back to the DSL for a third season, but he missed nearly all of it due to injury. He got into six games, all at catcher. After four years, Urbina has yet to get out of the DSL. He’ll be 21 when the 2023 season starts. |
