WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Escalona is an offense-oriented catcher. He signed out of Venezuela, so his bonus isn’t known. Between the pandemic season and an injury in 2022, he hasn’t seen a lot of playing time yet.
2020 2021 Escalona mostly caught but also played a little at first in his debut. He hit very well, but his defense had issues. He committed five errors in just over 56 innings and threw out only two of 12 base stealers. 2022 Back in the DSL, Escalona missed several weeks with an injury. In the field, he spent two-thirds of his time behind the plate and the rest at first. He again hit very well, but threw out only three of 19 base stealers. Hopefully, Escalona will be healthy and in the FCL in 2023. |
