| The Pirates signed Kelly out of Aruba. He’s short for a RHP, but after he signed his fastball jumped to the mid-90s. He also throws a curve.
2021 Pitching as a starter, Kelly had a solid debut in the DSL, with good walk and K rates. He improved significantly after struggling in his first few starts; in his last nine, he had an ERA of 2.87. 2022 Kelly pitched mostly in relief in the FCL. He put up good numbers overall, but he got on a strong run over his last six games. In 16 innings, he gave up one run, nine hits and five walks, and fanned 22. Kelly’s 2022 season was very promising. In both seasons, he’s improved a lot as the summer went on. He’ll be interesting to watch in 2023, hopefully at Bradenton eventually. |
