A look at how the current top 30 prospects did today. If a player is in the majors for an extended time or loses his prospect eligibility (Clay Holmes, Jacob Stallings, Kevin Newman and Bryan Reynolds), he will be removed from this list. Everyone below him will be shifted up a spot, and a new player will be added to the bottom of the list. If a player is out for the season (Travis MacGregor, Nick Burdi and Stephen Alemais), he will be removed and everyone below him will move up a spot. Removing these guys doesn’t mean they have lost prospect status. It is just an attempt to get more active prospects on the list. Indianapolis lost 9-1 to Columbus. Eduardo Vera has been pitching better lately, but that stretch came to a crashing stop on Friday night. He allowed nine earned runs on nine hits and a walk in 1.2 innings, throwing 62 pitches in his abbreviated outing. Yefry Ramirez followed and threw 2.1 scoreless frames, despite allowing two hits and walking four batters. He had four strikeouts. Geoff Hartlieb was out next and he threw two shutout innings, while picking up four strikeouts. Tyler Lyons handled the seventh, then JB Shuck took the eighth and struck out three batters (all with MLB experience). He has thrown 5.2 shutout innings over five appearances.
The Indians scored a run in the fifth on a Cole Tucker ground out that brought home Jake Elmore. That would be all they could put together in this contest. Pablo Reyes returned from a hit-by-pitch on his hand that kept him out of action for a week. He went 2-for-4 with two singles. Ke’Bryan Hayes also went 2-for-4 with two singles. Gregory Polanco went 1-for-3 with a walk. He is expected to stay with Indianapolis until at least Sunday.

Altoona won 1-0 over Erie. Brandon Waddell made his fifth start for the Curve and he continues to pitch well in his original role. He tossed six shutout innings on five hits and a walk, with seven strikeouts and a 6:2 GO/AO ratio. Waddell now has a 1.44 ERA in 25 innings, after posting an 8.70 ERA in 30 innings of relief with Indianapolis. Blake Cederlind tossed two shutout innings, giving up one runner on a hit-by-pitch. He has an 0.90 ERA in 30 innings with the Curve. Matt Eckelman retired the side in order in the ninth for his 17th save.
The lone run of the game scored on a fourth inning home run from Logan Hill. The only other Altoona hits were Mitchell Tolman’s 11th double and a single by Jerrick Suiter. Robbie Glendinning and Bligh Madris drew the two walks. The Curve struck out 18 times in the game. Just five days ago, Altoona struck out 17 times in a win over Erie.

Bradenton lost 8-4 to Fort Myers. Brad Case has a rough third inning, which led to a rare down performance from him this year. He gave up four runs in the third and another in the fourth inning, before finishing out his night with five runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings. Case had four strikeouts and an 8:3 GO/AO ratio. Samuel Reyes took over in the seventh and gave up three runs in two innings. Hunter Stratton threw a scoreless ninth.
The Marauders scored four runs in the first inning before recording an out and then that was it. The inning started with a Travis Swaggerty double, his 11th of the season. Raul Siri and Oneil Cruz followed with singles, then Mason Martin belted a two-run homer, his first in Bradenton. After that point, the team had just three hits and a walk. Calvin Mitchell was the only player to reach twice in the game, hitting his 16th double and drawing the lone walk. Adrian Valerio hit and single and stole his 11th base.

Greensboro lost 9-7 to West Virginia. Osvaldo Bido got the start and went 5.1 innings, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks, with five strikeouts. He threw 53 of 84 pitches for strikes. Bido now has a 3.67 ERA in 100.2 innings this season. Cristofer Melendez followed and recorded the final two outs of the sixth, while allowing one of two inherited runners to score. In 1.2 innings, he allowed four runs. Allen Montgomery was next and he gave up two runs in the eighth, then threw a scoreless ninth.
Jack Herman hit his eighth home run and Luke Mangieri hit his first home run with Greensboro. Herman went 2-for-4, with a HBP, an RBI, two stolen bases and three runs scored. Fabricio Macias had three hits and his 11th stolen base. Justin Harrer hit two doubles, giving him nine on the season. Zack Kone had two hits and his fourth steal. Kyle Mottice had a single, walk and an RBI.

Morgantown won game one of a doubleheader by a 3-1 score over Aberdeen. JC Flowers got the start in his pro debut, though his pitch count limited him to one inning. This year’s fourth round pick gave up a hit and two walks, with one strikeout, while throwing a shutout frame. Flowers threw 25 pitches, with 11 going for strikes. He was followed by the fifth round pick, Grant Ford, who tossed two shutout innings. Denny Roman allowed one run over three innings, before giving way to Garrett Leonard, who picked up the save with a scoreless seventh.
The Black Bears got two runs in the first inning on Jared Triolo’s tenth double. In the sixth inning, they added an insurance run on Blake Sabol’s second home run. Those were the only two extra-base hits for Morgantown. Ryan Haug added two singles, while Matt Fraizer and Will Matthiessen each had a single. Sabol scored two runs and drew the lone walk.
In game two, Aberdeen won 4-0, holding the Black Bears to four hits. Noe Toribio started and went six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks, while striking out seven batters. Cameron Junker retired the side in order in the seventh, picking up two strikeouts.
Despite the lack of offense, Ethan Paul had a nice game in the lead-off spot. He doubled and drew two walks. Brett Kinneman hit his first triple. Brendt Citta and Will Matthiessen each had a single. Matt Gorski went 0-for-6 on the day, dropping him down to a .203 average.

Bristol won 11-0 over Johnson City. Santiago Florez tossed 4.1 shutout innings before reaching his pitch count (75 pitches) on Friday night. He gave up four hits and a walk, while striking out five batters. He has a 2.76 ERA through his first four starts. Trey McGough followed with 1.2 scoreless innings, then gave the ball to Samson Abernathy, who retired all nine batters he faced over the final three innings.
The Pirates put up crooked numbers in five innings. They had 18 hits on the night, with everyone in the lineup contributing at least one hit. Matt Morrow had the big game with three hits, three RBIs, three runs scored, a stolen base and a walk. Ernny Ordonez had a single, his fourth double and he drove in three runs. Joseivin Medina got a rare start and collected three hits. He was 0-for-11 in four games prior to tonight. Ethan Goforth was 1-for-28 prior to tonight, but he collected two hits and scored two runs. Aaron Shackelford had three hits and two RBIs. He’s hitting .328, with a .998 OPS. Daniel Rivero had two hits, a walk and two runs scored.

The GCL Pirates lost 7-1 to the Orioles. Wilkin Ramos got the start and went 3.1 innings, serving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk, with one strikeout. Starlyn Reynoso was out next and he went 3.2 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks. Saul de la Cruz threw scoreless ball over the final two innings.
The Pirates had five hits, all singles, with five players picking up one each. Kaleb Foster had a single and two walks. Jase Bowen and Yoyner Fajardo each had a hit and a walk. Fajardo picked up his tenth steal. Juan Pie had a rough day, going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts.

The DSL Pirates1 lost 5-4 to the Rangers1. Raydel Velette got the start and allowed two runs on seven hits and three walks in 3.2 innings. Raul Mora followed with two runs in 2.1 innings. Carlos Campos allowed one unearned run in his two innings of work.
Darwin Baez had a big game on offense, with three singles, his ninth double and three RBIs. Juan Jerez drove in the other run with a sacrifice fly. Osvaldo Gavilan ($700,000 bonus) had a single, two walks and three runs scored. He also had an outfield assist.
The DSL Pirates2 won 6-2 over the Giants, which sends them to the All-Star break with a 30-6 record. Miguel Toribio ($175,000) made his first start and went five innings, with two unearned runs on five hits and no walks, striking out nine batters. He now has an 0.65 ERA in 27.2 innings. Miguel Diaz followed with four no-hit, shutout innings. He walked two and struck out five batters. He has a 1.56 ERA, a .159 BAA and 20 strikeouts in 17.1 innings.
Randy Romero had a single and his eight double, while picking up his 20th steal in 20 attempts. He scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. He also picked up an outfield assist. Romero goes into the All-Star break with a .396/.439/.604 slash line. Bryan Mateo had a single, double and a run scored. Dariel Lopez drove in his 25th run, but also made three errors to give him 16 on the season.
