Bradenton lost 4-2 in the first game of a doubleheader. Max Kranick pitched and had a rough start to the second inning, which resulted in three early runs, before he settled down and finished with a complete game (six innings). He allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk, with three strikeouts. The fact that he fought through early struggles was key for the Marauders, who were going with a bullpen effort in the second game.
Oneil Cruz homered in the fourth inning, then later walked and stole his sixth base. Lolo Sanchez had two hits, an RBI and an outfield assist. Rodolfo Castro picked up his fifth double since joining Bradenton and his 18th double overall. Travis Swaggerty went 1-for-4 with a single to extend his hit streak to ten games.
In game two, Bradenton lost 3-1 to Lakeland. Joe Jacques got the spot start and went four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on just one hit, with three walks and a strikeout. Hunter Stratton tossed two scoreless innings.
Travis Swaggerty extended his hit streak to 11 games with a solo homer in the sixth inning. It was his sixth home run of the season. He also drew a walk. Dylan Busby hit his 11th double and walked once. The rest of the lineup went 0-for-19 with no walks. Mason Martin went 0-for-5 with a walk in his first day in Bradenton.

Greensboro won 5-4 over Kannapolis. Colin Selby got the start and went five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks, with four strikeouts. He now has a 3.14 ERA in 57.1 innings. Allen Montgomery pitched a scoreless sixth, then gave up two runs (one earned) in the seventh without recording out. Cam Alldred recorded the final three outs of the seventh and allowed one inherited run to score. Cristofer Melendez tossed scoreless ball over the final two frames for the win.
The top three hitters in the lineup scored a total of four runs and the next four batters each drove in a run. Ji-Hwan Bae, Kyle Mottice and Connor Kaiser each had two hits. Kaiser also reached on a hit-by-pitch and he scored two runs. His double was the only extra-base hit. Mottice also reached on a hit-by-pitch, the 15th time he has been hit in 34 games. Fabricio Macias had a single, walk, RBI and run scored.

Morgantown won 10-9 in 12 innings over Auburn. Jesus Valles made his fifth start, going five innings and allowing four runs on five hits and one walk, with one strikeout. He now has a 5.56 ERA in 22.2 innings. Jacob Webb threw two innings, giving up two unearned runs. Xavier Concepcion followed with a run on three walks in the eighth, failing to get out of inning. Austin Roberts got the last out of the eighth, then tossed a scoreless ninth to send it into extra innings.
Francis Del Orbe gave up an unearned run in the tenth, allowing the runner that starts extra innings at second base to score. After the Black Bears tied it up in the tenth, Del Orbe was one strike away from striking out the side in order when he allowed an RBI double in the top of the 11th. He threw a scoreless 12th for the win.
Morgantown got their scoring started in the first inning on a three-run homer by Matt Gorski. It was the first pro home run for the 2019 second round pick. In the fourth inning, Jared Triolo hit his ninth double, driving in two runs. Kyle Wilkie picked up an RBI in the seventh on an infield single. They scored a run in the ninth on a fielder’s choice and a run in the tenth on a wild pitch. Triolo picked up an RBI single in the 11th to tie the score, then a 12th inning error led to the walk-off win.
Ethan Paul, Jared Triolo and Brett Kinneman each had two hits and a walk. Paul, Kinneman and Matt Gorski each scored two runs. Will Matthiessen played first base and reached base five times on two hits and three walks. Blake Sabol walked three times.

The GCL Pirates were rained out on Tuesday. They will make the game up as part of a doubleheader on July 22nd.

The DSL Pirates1 won 13-3 over the Indians/Brewers co-op team. Joelvis Del Rosario got the start and went 5.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk, with four strikeouts. He now has a 5.61 ERA in 25.2 innings. Carlos Campos followed and he tossed 1.1 shutout innings on no hits and three strikeouts. Miguel Peralta took over in the eighth and allowed two unearned runs over the final two innings.
Shendrik Apostel doubled his season home run total by belting two homers and driving in five runs. He missed just over a week of the season with a minor surgery last month. Franrielis Bastardo hit his fourth home run and drove in four runs. Osvaldo Gavilan had just one hit in six at-bats, but that hit was a two-run single. Sergio Campana had two hits and two stolen bases. He’s batting .324 now, with six steals. Luis Tejeda had two hits, including his fifth double.
The DSL Pirates2 won 10-2 over the Tigers2. Sergio Umana got the start and tossed five shutout innings on six hits, with no walks and four strikeouts. This was his third straight start with no earned runs. Umana now has a 2.08 ERA in 34.2 innings, with 36 strikeouts. Miguel Diaz followed with one run on three hits and two walks, with four strikeouts in two innings. He has a 2.03 ERA in his second season, though he is still just 17 years old until the middle of next month. Axel Rosario took over in the eighth and gave up one run on three walks. Enmanuel Mejia tossed a scoreless ninth. He has thrown 5.2 shutout innings this season while striking out 11 batters.
Randy Romero had a big game on offense, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBIs and two stolen bases. He’s now batting .396, with 19 steals in 19 attempts. Carlos Arroyo also had two hits, two runs scored and two stolen bases. He drove in a pair of runs. Backup catcher Luis Hernandez reached base all four times on two hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. He knocked in a pair of runs. Alexander Mojica had a single, his seventh double, two walks and a sacrifice fly. Rodolfo Nolasco hit his eighth double. Deivis Nadal continues to get on base, collecting two singles and a walk. He has a .458 OBP.
Both Umana and Romero were named to the All-Star game, which will take place this weekend. They will be joined by outfielder Fleury Nova. That means the Pirates had about 15 snubs, but every team needs one player and the rosters are limited, so three players is a lot.
