They resume play today in Lakewood and I will be covering the entire series live for the site including scheduled starts from Jameson Taillon and Colton Cain. Kevin Creagh will be at the Altoona game tonight and posting a game recap. Brad Lincoln was scratched from his start last night due to a slight neck strain. It’s reported as nothing serious and he should make his next scheduled start. Please take note of the early start time for Indianapolis.
AAA: Indianapolis (30-31) @ Buffalo (26-35) 10:35am
Probable starter: Sean Gallagher (1-7 6.49)
Game notes: Indy collected just 4 hits but that would be all they needed as four pitchers combined for a 1-0 shutout. It was the first shutout by Indianapolis pitchers this year. Since starting their season with a 1-8 record Indy has gone 29-23 and since April 25th they have gone 25-17. John Bowker had 2 hits and drove in the game winning run in the 8th inning.
AA: Altoona (29-29) VS Erie (28-29) 7:00pm
Probable starter: Michael Colla (4-2 2.65)
Game notes: Bryan Morris pitched 4 innings giving up 4 runs, all coming in the 1st inning with one out. He struck out five, a season high. Donald Veal threw a scoreless 9th inning. Jeremy Farrell went 3-4 with 2 runs scored. Starling Marte went 1-4 with a walk,single, RBI groundout and an outfield assist.
High-A: Bradenton (24-35) @ Jupiter (28-31) 6:35pm
Probable starter: Quinton Miller (3-5 7.18)
Game notes: Nate Baker threw 6 strong innings giving up 3 runs on just 4 hits, 2 walks and he struck out two. Robbie Grossman went 1-2 and drew three walks increasing his team leading total to 42 on the year. Elevys Gonzalez went 2-4 with a walk and stolen base. Aaron Baker drove in his 45th run, third highest total in the FSL.
Low-A: West Virginia (28-29) @ Lakewood (28-30) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Jameson Taillon (2-1 3.71)
Game notes: West Virginia had the day off yesterday. They resume their schedule today in Lakewood for a three game series. The Power currently sit in 6th place, six games out of 1st place and a half game ahead of last place Lakewood.
VSL: VSL Pirates (11-9) VS VSL Tigers (6-12) 11:00am
Games notes: Starter Roberto Espinoza gave up 6 runs in 4.1 IP yesterday picking up his 2nd loss of the year. He walked none, allowed 7 hits and struck out three. Dilson Herrera went 2-4 with his 8th double and 3rd triple. He is now hitting .333 after 19 games. Jordan Galvez went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base.
DSL: DSL Pirates (4-2) VS DSL Red Sox (7-2) 10:30am
Game notes: The Pirates and Mets2 finished their game from May 30th which was stopped at 4-4 in the 7th inning. The Pirates scored three runs in the 7th and won 7-4. In the regularly scheduled game they lost 10-9 in a poorly played game. They committed 6 errors and their pitchers had just one strikeout. Edwin Espiral drove in 4 runs in the loss, he now has 9 RBI’s in just 5 games.
