Pirates Prospect Watch: Sammy Siani Doubles During Three Hit Day

Sammy Siani had another big game on Thursday in the Arizona Fall League.

After picking up two hits on Wednesday, Siani added three more in Thursday’s contest. That included his second double of the AFL season. He also drove in three runs in an 11-6 victory.

Siani got things going in the sixth inning with an RBI single, putting Scottsdale on the board. He later scored on an RBI double by fellow Pirates prospect Kervin Pichardo in what was a four run inning. Siani doubled in the seventh, bringing in another run to put Scottsdale up 5-3. He later scored to make the score 6-3, then returned in the eighth with another RBI single to extend the lead to 7-3.

It’s only been five games and 23 plate appearances, but Siani has a hit in each contest, with a .455 average and a 1.160 OPS so far in the AFL season.

SCOTTSDALE won 11-6.

  • LF Sammy Siani: 3-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI
  • 2B Termarr Johnson: 0-for-3, 3 BB, RBI
  • SS Kervin Pichardo: 1-for-3, 2B, 2 BB, RBI
  • RHP Eddy Yean: 0.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

Termarr Johnson went hitless for the first time in the AFL, but drew three walks. Kervin Pichardo picked up a double, while drawing two walks. It was the second double of the AFL season for Pichardo. Eddy Yean came on to pitch in the ninth. He allowed three hits, hit a batter, and another batter reached on a Termarr Johnson throwing error. The end result was Yean didn’t record an out and allowed three runs.
