Pirates Prospect Watch: Mitch Jebb and Dominic Perachi are Players of the Week

Published:

The Greensboro Grasshoppers had two of the top performers in the Pittsburgh Pirates system over the last week. They also had the two top performers in the South Atlantic League.

On the hitting side, Mitch Jebb went 12-for-24 at the plate, with two doubles, three walks, and four stolen bases. Jebb was named the South Atlantic League hitter of the week. The 2023 second round pick has been hitting all month, batting .324 with a .951 OPS after a slow start to his season. He’s also shown off the speed, stealing 12 bases in 14 attempts, giving him 28 steals on the year.

Dominic Perachi pitched six shutout innings, allowing just one hit, while striking out 11 batters. The left-hander was named the South Atlantic League pitcher of the week for his outing. The 2022 11th rounder has been pitching well all season, with a 1.97 ERA in 68.2 innings for Greensboro, racking up 74 strikeouts and only issuing 19 walks.

The full-season teams were off on Monday, but the rookie ball teams were in action, with the FCL Pirates seeing their season come to an end.
