Pirates Prospect Watch: Charles McAdoo Extends Hitting Streak to Ten Games

Published:

Charles McAdoo extended his hitting streak to ten games on Friday, in Greensboro’s 14-5 victory. McAdoo went 2-for-5, knocking in three runs and also drawing a walk. This was the fourth game in a row that McAdoo had multiple hits.

The lone game this month where McAdoo doesn’t have a hit was on June 1st, when he struck out in a pinch hitting appearance. Prior to that, he had hits in his previous four starts, as well as hits in almost every game this year. McAdoo has played 55 games in High-A this year, and only has eight games where he hasn’t reached on a walk or a hit. He’s recorded a hit in 43 games this year, with multiple hits in 21 games.

On the season, McAdoo is batting .345/.418/.568 with nine homers, 13 doubles, and 12 stolen bases. He’s been playing a lot of third base, while also playing the corner outfield spots, first base, and second base in his brief pro career. The Pirates drafted McAdoo in the 13th round last year out of San Jose State, and he started his career with a .302/.412/.510 line in Bradenton.

McAdoo is looking like the top candidate for a mid-season promotion to Double-A Altoona.

TRIPLE-A: INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS

INDIANAPOLIS won 3-2

The Pirates recently signed Jake Woodford, giving them some added rotation depth out of Triple-A. Woodford had a 5.26 ERA in ten starts for the White Sox Triple-A affiliate, prior to making two starts in the majors. He was outrighted back to the minors earlier this month, and elected free agency before signing with the Pirates. Liover Peguero hit his fourth home run of the season.
