Pirates Prospect Watch: The Best Weekly Performers in the Minor League System

There are no minor league games on Monday, which means every Monday’s Pirates Prospect Watch features the best performers from the previous week.

This week looks at the end of the hitting streak for Nick Gonzales, the continuation of a few other hitting streaks throughout the system, and the usual assortment of quality pitching.

The Hitters

Nick Gonzales, 2B/SS, Indianapolis – Indianapolis only played three games this past week, but that was enough for Gonzales to pick up five hits. He went 2-for-4 on Tuesday and 3-for-5 with a homer on Wednesday, before ending his 14-game hitting streak on Thursday with an 0-for-4 performance. That was the first game of the year where he didn’t reach base safely. The skies opened for days and tornados threatened the land in response.
