Pirates Discussion: Pirates and Full Season Affiliates Return to Play

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates begin the second half of their season with the Miami Marlins visiting for a three game set, a week after the Pirates were in Miami.

Last matchup, the Marlins started three left-handers within the four games. This time around, they begin with Braxton Garrett — who gave the Pirates hitters a lot of trouble in the fourth game — before two scheduled right-handers. Top 100 Prospect Max Meyer is scheduled to take the mound on Saturday for his second career start, and then All-Star — and Pitcher-Who-Should-Have-Been-NL-SP — Sandy Alcantara is scheduled to take the mound Sunday.

The previous matchup involved a slew of baserunning blunders, defensive miscues, and a lack of offense from both clubs.
