Jesus Castillo 1-for-4, SB

Game Recap:

Alessandro Ercolani made his fourth start on Monday and he worked around some base runners to allow just one run in three innings. He allowed four hits, three walks, hit two batters and struck out four batters. He now has a 2.03 ERA. Kevin Disla followed with two perfect innings. Jose Garces gave up one run over three frames, while striking out six batters. Carlos Campos threw shutout ball in the ninth, but he allowed two runs in the tenth (one unearned) for the 4-2 loss.

Maikol Escotto played his first game since being promoted to Greensboro weeks ago. He had two infield hits and reached on a HBP. He left after getting hit, though that could have been planned since it’s his first game since June 8th. After his single in the third, Escotto stole second, third and then had a straight steal of home. The other Pirates run scored on a Deion Walker single, his first RBI of the season. Pirates had six hits, all singles.

Game Time: 11:00 AM

Box Score: LINK

Starting Pitcher: Isaias Uribe (0-0, 5.19)

  • Final Line:  0.2 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 0 SO

Notable Performances:

Eduardo Oviedo 1-for-4, BB

Robert DePaula 0-for-4

Angel Rodriguez 1-for-4, 2B

Wesley Zapata 1-for-3, RBI

Game Recap:

This game started off bad with starter Isaias Uribe allowing four runs in the first before he was removed with two outs. It didn’t get any better, as that first inning was only the fourth worst inning for Pirates pitchers. Sparing you the pitching details, they lost 32-3 and 31 of the runs were earned.

Angel Rodriguez played his first game and collected a double, then scored on a wild pitch. Daje Morales hit his first homer in the fifth inning. Wesley Zapata singled in a run in the sixth. Morales also hit his third double. He was the only player with more than one hit.

Starting Pitcher: Andres Silvera (0-0, 0.00)

  • Final Line:  5 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO

Notable Performances:

Ruben Vizcaya 1-for-4

Roinny Aguiar 1-for-3, 2B

Yordany De Los Santos 2-for-3, BB

Carlos Tirado 0-for-3, BB

John Zorrilla 0-for-3

Gustavo Armas 0-for-3

Axiel Plaz 2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI

Eddy Rodriguez 0-for-2

Game Recap:

Andres Silvera made his fourth start and he gave up a run. That’s noteworthy because he threw shutout ball in his first three starts. This game was just as good though, with five innings, one hit, one run and one walk. He now has an 0.54 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 16.2 innings. Unless there’s a boxscore error (I’m checking on it), then Dioris Valdez made his mound debut and tossed a scoreless inning. He has off-the-charts raw power, but he was 0-for-6 with five strikeouts this year, so the move to the mound is possible. Jesus Clode finished out the game with three shutout innings of one-hit ball. Roinny Aguiar drove in the first run with his fourth double. Axiel Plaz then doubled in two runs. The double was his fifth and he also had a single. Yordany Del Los Santos had two singles and a walk.
