Daily Video Rundown

Carter Bins

The defensive minded catcher hasn’t had the best of the seasons at the plate, batting just .194 with Altoona and Indianapolis. He did hit his third Triple-A home run on Tuesday, his fourth overall which brings him half way towards his minor league career high.

Canaan Smith-Njigba

Canaan Smith-Njigba has been an on-base machine this year in Triple-A. He was batting .342  with Indianapolis at the time of his call up, and showed off that approach that has made him so successful. His first bit of game action was as a pinch-hitter, and drove a 1-2 pitch to left center for a double in his first ever plate appearance.

Liover Peguero

After a hot start to the season, Peguero has hit a little bit of a snag. After hitting .324 in April, his average was just .303 in May before it plummeting so far in June (.208). Part of that was going 0-for-17 in the first four games of the season.

He’s since collected hits in six of the last seven games, including this RBI single.

Jared Triolo

After Tuesday, Triolo has seven RBI on the month. He had two in April and May, combined. He also hit his first home run of the season. Not a bad start to June.

Bubba Chandler

It’s been quite the week already for Bubba Chandler, and it’s been exactly what we had hoped to see. Tuesday Chandler made his first appearance on the mound, pitching a lone inning while striking out two. On Monday, however, he hit his first home run on 2022. Not bad.

Anthony began writing over 10 years ago, starting a personal blog to cover the 2011 MLB draft, where the Pirates selected first overall. After bouncing around many websites covering hockey, he refocused his attention to baseball, his first love when it comes to sports. He eventually found himself here at Pirates Prospects in late 2021, where he covers the team’s four full season minor league affiliates.
