Pirates DVR: Oneil Cruz, Deivis Nadal, Sergio Campana

Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.

Daily Video

Oneil Cruz

Cruz hit his seventh home run of the season on Sunday, putting a cap on a great month of May. After a rough start to the season, Cruz has finally gotten his batting average over the Mendoza line.

Deivis Nadal

With the Bradenton Marauders dealing with injuries this week, Deivis Nadal was able to make his debut this week. Offensively, the 20-year-old went 2-for-8 with a double but the highlight of the week for him was a play he made with the glove.

The catch was the first out in closing out their game Sunday that helped avoid getting swept by Fort Myers.

Sergio Campana

The outfielder hit his first home run of the season on Sunday. Campana is still struggling with the bat, with a slash of .217/.316/.278 but has an OPS of .713 in the month of May.

Rodolfo Nolasco

If the Marauders were going to avoid a six game sweep, they were going to have to come from behind as Fort Myers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Rodolfo Nolasco gave them the lead, with a bases-loaded single that scored two runs. Bradenton never looked back and won 4-2.

Nick Gonzales

Another player starting to find his groove, Nick Gonzales hit a RBI double on Sunday. Gonzales has his average up to .250, and now has 12 extra-base hits and has driven in 15 runs.

Anthony began writing over 10 years ago, starting a personal blog to cover the 2011 MLB draft, where the Pirates selected first overall. After bouncing around many websites covering hockey, he refocused his attention to baseball, his first love when it comes to sports. He eventually found himself here at Pirates Prospects in late 2021, where he covers the team’s four full season minor league affiliates.

Bradenton homer call should be, “Get that ball off of my lawn!” The residents would relate.

Loving the oppo tacos from Cruz, but nothing beats one of his 115+ mph missiles pulled to RF.

😃👍…. I wrote, yesterday on a different article, that im unsure how mgmt perceives Bae, I hope they view him as significant core guy, regardless of Nick or others coming up… TWT🤷‍♂️

I still feel he gets no love, if so I hope Cherington uses him to net a real pitcher. (But I want him in the black and gold.)
