Happy Opening Day!
The Pittsburgh Pirates take on the St. Louis Cardinals today, and they’re expected to finalize their roster first with the additions of catcher Andrew Knapp and outfielder Jake Marisnick.
Speaking of transactions, we added a new resource to the site: A Transactions page. You can find this under the Resources tab on the site’s menu, or just click the link below.
Pirates Prospects shut down for a year from 2020 to 2021 as I worked on the next iteration of this site. When that debuted with the new weekly format at the start of the year, there were a lot of questions about whether we would have daily content.
I had to laugh a bit at that, remembering how much content we product each year.
Yesterday, for example, we released season previews of the Indianapolis Indians and Altoona Curve. Our Indianapolis writer, Ryan Palencer, also had a feature on Oneil Cruz.
If you already read the seven articles from our Tuesday article drop, plus those three articles yesterday, plus every other update in between, then rest assured that we have even more articles coming for you today. That includes my annual ZiPS analysis, a Greensboro Grasshoppers preview, and one more feature that builds off our Rankings.
We’ll also have our daily features, which include this article meant to keep you updated each day on everything you might have missed. The daily features also include the Prospect Watch, the Daily Video Rundown, and the Pirates Game Discussion.
Because we’re set to have so much content on the site, both with the daily articles and Tuesday premium article drops, I spent most of Wednesday organizing the navigation to keep everything in order. I hope that the changes make everything easier to keep up with so you don’t miss anything.
Just in case you do, you can always scroll to the bottom of the home page and check the archives of the site in linear order.
Check back later today for our latest preview features, news on the Pirates’ roster, and the live discussions for Opening Day!

As we’ve discussed, the rotation will be fluid. There will be games where two pitchers piggyback off one another to eat the first five, six innings. For the first time through, though, I imagine we see more traditional starters.
