Daily Video Rundown
Roansy Contreras
It was a weird start to the season for Roansy Contreras. He was originally slated to begin the year in Indianapolis but injuries forced him into a bullpen role with the Pirates.
He pitched as a reliever three times with the major league club, striking out 10 in 7 2/3 innings, pitching lights out for the most part outside his season debut in St. Louis. Contreras even picked up his first major league victory against the Washington Nationals.
Looking at his long term future, the Pirates decided it was better to send him back to the minors to stretch him back out as a starter, and Contreras made his first appearance in Triple-A this year on Sunday.
He gave up a home run, and struggled with his control a bit, but for the most part he was his usual self, striking out five in 3 1/3 innings, throwing 57 pitches in the process.
Here’s a full look at his start on Sunday against Columbus.
Bubba Chandler
After being drafted in the third round last year, Bubba Chandler got his feet wet in the Florida Complex League in 2021, but only as a hitter. The Pirates drafted him as a two-way player and all indications are they are going to give him every opportunity to develop that way.
Chandler went 5-for-30 in his brief debut, hitting his first career home run in the process. The Pirates never allowed him to pitch, where most believe he has the higher upside at.
Now entering 2022, it gives us our first opportunity to see Chandler pitch in game scenarios with some video being available.

Braylon Bishop
Another highly regarded prep players the Pirates drafted and signed to over slot deals, Braylon Bishop also got a quick look in the FCL, going 5-for-26 but also stealing three bases in 2021.
