Ke’Bryan Hayes and Ji-Hwan Bae Receive Recognition for Strong Weeks

Two of the top prospects for the Pittsburgh Pirates received recognition for their strong performances over the past week. Third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes was named as the International League Player of the Week and infielder Ji-Hwan Bae was named as the South Atlantic League Player of the Week.

Hayes began his week by hitting his tenth home run of the season on Monday. He finished the week by going 11-for-16 over the final four games. Hayes is hitting .259/.329/.412 in 106 games for Indianapolis, with 29 doubles, which ranks tied for seventh most in the IL. He’s also 13-for-14 in stolen base attempts.

Bae had 11 hits last weeks, scored nine runs and drove in five runs, with all of those RBIs coming on Thursday night. He is currently hitting .322/.404/.417 for Greensboro, with 25 doubles and 29 steals. He leads the SAL in batting average and he ranks fifth in stolen bases. Bae currently has an eight-game hit streak.
