Pirates Recall Dovydas Neverauskas; JB Shuck Designated for Assignment

Published:

Earlier today, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced that veteran left-handed pitcher Tyler Lyons has been added to the 40-man roster and he joined the big league club. They still needed to make a move to open a spot on the 40-man and they did that by designating outfielder JB Shuck for assignment. The Pirates also announced that right-handed pitcher Dovydas Neverauskas has been recalled.

There was already a spot opened up for Lyons on the 25-man roster due to the injury to Jameson Taillon, so Neverauskas is taking the spot left open by Shuck leaving.

Lyons made ten appearances in Indianapolis, posting a 3.18 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP, with 12 strikeouts in 11.1 innings.

Neverauskas has allowed two runs over eight innings in his seven appearances with Indianapolis. As he returned from a Spring Training injury, he also made two scoreless appearances with Bradenton before joining Indianapolis.

Shuck hit .213/.339/.255 in 27 games for the Pirates. Just ten of those games were as a starter.
