Chris Archer Suspended Five Games for Sunday’s Incident

Major League Baseball has suspended Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Chris Archer for his role in the bench-clearing incident with the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. Archer has also been fined an undisclosed amount. In the fourth inning, Archer threw behind Derek Dietrich, which led to the benches emptying on both sides. Archer has the right to appeal the suspension.

Yasiel Puig and Cincinnati manager David Bell also received suspensions.
