After going 14 innings last night, with both Deolis Guerra and Vance Worley seeing multiple innings, the Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled right-handed pitcher Wilfredo Boscan from Indianapolis and optioned INF/OF Steve Lombardozzi to Indianapolis to make room for him.

Boscan was up with the Pirates earlier in the year, but never got into a game. With the All-Star break beginning tomorrow, he might only be up for one day this time. It was his scheduled day to start today, so he could help the Pirates if they are in need of multiple innings.
Clint Hurdle was asked about Boscan coming up before the game today.
“”It’s his scheduled day to start,” Hurdle said. “He can throw 100 pitches if need be. We want somebody with the most volume of pitches available, and he’s got plenty to bring. We don’t want be caught one pitcher short tonight based on last night. We have two pitchers that are down. Guerra is down; Worley is down.”
The Pirates will also have Jeff Locke available out of the bullpen tonight if necessary.
