Minor League Schedule: Dickson Gets Start For Jamestown

For Jamestown today, Cody Dickson will get the start. The fourth round draft pick from this year has a 12.6 SO/9 ratio in his five starts. The GCL Pirates are off today. Both DSL affiliates are off this weekend while the league breaks for it’s All-Star game on Sunday. Probable starter: Graham Godfrey (6-6, 4.72)
Yesterday’s Result: Gwinnett 2, Indianapolis 0

Graham Godfrey will make his tenth start of the season tonight, sixth for Indianapolis. He started the year with Providence, going 4-3, 3.83 in four starts and nine relief appearances. On the year, he has pitched 76.1 innings, allowing 82 hits, 13 homers and 26 walks. Godfrey has 49 strikeouts, an 0.59 GO/AO ratio and a .269 BAA. In his last start, he went three innings, giving up three runs on three hits.

AA: Altoona (45-54) vs Erie (50-48) 6:00pm
Probable starter: Eliecer Navarro (2-3, 4.63)

Eliecer Navarro will make his seventh start for Altoona tonight. He went 1-9, 2.86 in 11 starts and two relief appearances for Bradenton. On the year, he has thrown 104.1 innings, allowing 95 hits, seven homers and 25 walks. Navarro has 85 strikeouts, an 0.77 GO/AO ratio and a .235 BAA. In his last start, he went seven innings, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk. It was his longest start for Altoona and he also struck out a AA high of six batters.

High-A: Bradenton (34-62 overall, 8-20 2nd half) vs Lakeland (41-50) 5:00pm

Joely Rodriguez will make his sixth start for Bradenton tonight. He began the season with West Virginia, where he went 5-5, 2.72 in 14 starts. On the season, he has pitched a total of 101 innings, allowing 106 hits, five homers and 29 walks. Rodriguez has 69 strikeouts, a 2.23 GO/AO ratio and a .275 BAA. In his last start, he went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks. Three of his five starts with Bradenton have come against Charlotte.

Jason Creasy will make his seventh start for West Virginia today. He has also pitched 18 times in relief. As a starter, he has gone 0-2, 2.03 in 26.2 innings. In his last start, he gave up two unearned runs over six innings, allowing four hits and two walks. Creasy has pitched a total of 64.1 innings this year, allowing 67 hits, six homers and 16 walks. He has 59 strikeouts, a 1.33 GO/AO ratio and a .265 BAA. In his last 35.1 innings(ten appearances), he has a 1.53 ERA.

In his last start, Dickson went three innings, giving up two runs on two hits and four walks.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball.
