For an in depth review of yesterday’s games please check out our minor league wrap-up which can be found here.  All eight teams play today, yesterday was the first time that happened this year.

Stetson Allie makes his 2nd career start tonight for State College.  The 20 year old 2010 2nd round draft pick lasted just 2.1 IP in his first start allowing three runs on three hits and three walks. He also struck out three and all three of his walks came in the 3rd inning. The last run he allowed came courtesy of a bases loaded walk after he left the game.

Aaron Pribanic started the season great but has cooled off recently. His last outing on June 17th was his worst as he was left in long enough to give up 14 hits and 7 earned runs, both season highs. That game was against tonight’s opponent, the Harrisburg Senators whom he also faced on May 10th when he gave up 5 runs in 5 innings.

Zack Von Rosenberg gets his 14th start tonight. Despite some poor overall numbers he has pitched well in 4 of his last 5 starts going  3-0 with two games where he has struck out seven batters. He has walked just 13 batters on the season in 63 innings with 56 strikeouts to his credit. His main problem this year has been the long ball. He has given up 12 homers already, tied for 2nd highest in the SAL with teammate Tyler Waldron(13 allowed) the only one ahead of him.

When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects.
