INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS (AAA)

Wilson carried a no hitter in to the seventh inning.

Box Score

Result: Indianapolis 9, Durham 6

Starting Pitcher: Justin Wilson (7.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 3 K, 0 HR)

Top Hitter: Matt Hague (4-for-5, 3B, HR, 3 RBI)

Notes: Justin Wilson (3-3, 2.36) had a great start tonight, taking a no hitter in to the seventh inning, and finishing up with seven shutout frames, allowing just the one hit, five walks, and striking out three.  The Indianapolis bullpen wasn’t as effective, as Justin Thomas (4.67) and Blaine Boyer (27.00) combined to allow six runs in 1.1 innings.  Tim Wood (4.50) closed things out, getting the final two outs in the ninth.

The offense was just as good as Wilson, led by Matt Hague (.285).  Hague went 4-for-5 with a triple and a homer, his third of the year.  The home run was a three run shot, and part of a five run inning in the top of the eighth, which gave the Indians the run support they needed to win.  John Bowker (.333) went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs.  Josh Harrison (.347) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Chase d’Arnaud (.242) went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Holt went 2-for-4.

Box Score

Result: Altoona 7, Erie 2

Starting Pitcher: Aaron Thompson (5.0 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 2 HR)

Top Hitter: Brock Holt (2-for-4, 2B, SB)

Notes: Aaron Thompson (3.32) was a bit lucky tonight, allowing just two runs, despite also allowing nine hits in five innings.  Thompson’s two runs both came on solo homers.  Chris Leroux (1-1, 3.00) pitched two shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out two.  Michael Dubee (3.66) also added two shutout frames, with three hits and two strikeouts.

Brock Holt (.288) went 2-for-4 with a double and his seventh stolen base on the season.  Miles Durham (.219) went 1-for-2 with three RBIs.  Brad Chalk (.234) went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Starting Pitcher: Quinton Miller (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 0 HR)

Top Hitter: Elevys Gonzalez (3-for-3, 2B, BB)

Notes: After allowing nine runs in five innings last week, Quinton Miller (2-3, 8.90) rebounded, allowing two runs on four hits in five innings, with no walks and one strikeout.  Jason Erickson (5.82) pitched a shutout inning, allowing two hits and striking out one.  Jhonathan Ramos (3.66) pitched two perfect innings, striking out three.  Ryan Beckman (1.04) pitched a perfect inning.

Elevys Gonzalez (.333) went 3-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Ramon Cabrera (.444) went 2-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base, and an RBI.  Jarek Cunningham (.285) went 2-for-5 with a triple.  David Rubinstein (.361) went 2-for-3 with a double.  Cole White (.195) went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Top Hitter: Gift Ngoepe (3-for-5, R)

Notes: Zack Dodson (2-3, 3.12) was hurt by home runs tonight, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits in 5.2 innings, with two homers.  Dodson didn’t allow a walk and struck out four.  Trent Stevenson (4.96) pitched a perfect inning.  Jason Townsend (3.00) allowed two runs on three hits in an inning of work, with no walks and one strikeout.

Gift Ngoepe (.316) went 3-for-5 with a run scored.  Andy Vasquez (.295) went 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.  Daniel Grovatt (.314) went 1-for-4 with a run.
