UPDATE (12:20 PM): I’m wondering whether the length of Hurdle’s contract says anything about Neal Huntington’s future status with the club. Some reports indicated that the main sticking point between Hurdle and the front office was the length of contract. A manager generally does not have a longer deal than the general manager, and Huntington is only signed through the 2011 season. If Hurdle is on board for three years, does that mean we should expect an extension for Huntington? I don’t have the answer.

UPDATE (12:25 PM):Jen Langosch of MLB.com confirms the report:

UPDATE (12:30 PM):Rob Biertempfel of the Trib reports that the Pirates will introduce Hurdle at a press conference Monday at 11 AM.
