Pirates Trade Daniel Cabrera, Sign Dallas McPherson

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded Daniel Cabrera to the Arizona Diamondbacks and have signed Dallas McPherson, per an Indianapolis press release.

McPherson hit for a .253/.335/.463 line in 229 at-bats in Triple-A for the Chicago White Sox earlier in the year. He was likely signed to help Indianapolis in the playoffs, especially after the Pirates call up players for September.

No word on the return for Cabrera, or if there was a return. He was one of the five starters Indianapolis had remaining. The Indians also placed Jose Diaz on the disabled list and activated Jo-Jo Reyes. Reyes could take over in the rotation, as the Indians don’t have many other options with Jeff Locke in the majors.
